The James Fisher Memorial Foundation is proud to parther with The Funky Farm, a Marshall, NC farm run by James’ sister, Christina Fisher-Hensley. Known for its beloved mini donkey, Peter Pan, the farm was fortunately spared by the storm and is now supporting relief efforts in Western NC.
Together, we’re working directly with volunteers and local agencies across the region to deliver supplies where they’re needed most. With needs rapidly evolving, we’re also raising funds for immediate relief and rebuilding support.
Your generosity makes a real difference—help us bring hope to our mountain communities, beginning with the one closest to our hearts.
The devastation in our beautiful mountain communities is immense, and the road to recovery is long. Many people still need help, and together we can provide relief now while working toward rebuilding the future.
Our teams have been providing on-the-ground support since the storm passed and are proud to continue assisting those in need.
This newly minted facility at the Funky Farm serves as a hub for our supply donations.
In the past three weeks we have:
With over $13,000 raised to date, monetary donations have been critical in allowing us to adapt and fill requests in real time.
The Funky Farm will continue operating its outpost to provide essential supplies and expand our efforts to support the rebuilding of communities.
Small businesses are vital to the region’s recovery, and we are beginning to donate funds for grants and initiatives that will aid their growth and revitalization.
Together, we can help rebuild stronger communities.
When you sign up to sponsor a family, you’ll be helping to fill their holiday with warmth and happiness. You can shop for gifts and drop them off at our designated locations, or make it easy by choosing items from Amazon Wish Lists. Every contribution counts, and together, we can spread love and hope—one family at a time.

And operating out of Fisher-Hensley Stables, a hunter-jumper barn known for its ability to start young horses, the Funky Farm is a lively, adventure-filled sanctuary where animals like Peter Pan the mini donkey and friends bring joy and shenanigans to fans of all ages.
Deeply rooted in the area, the farm was humbled to escape damage from Hurricane Helene and has since dedicated its efforts to relief and rebuilding.
Peter Pan’s journey began as an orphaned mini donkey – an unexpected surprise from another farm rescue Tinkerbell – found cold in the field and nursed back to health by his “mom” Christina. Against all odds, he grew stronger and has since gathered quite the social media following, capturing hearts with his playful antics and big personality.
Now the star of The Funky Farm, Peter Pan is dedicated to bringing joy and smiles to everyone he meets, sharing his story and spreading positivity wherever he goes.
