A Season of Giving

December 16, 2020

While this has been a different year in many ways, some things remain the same. The generous spirit of our community is ever-present and incredibly heartening. When faced with the cancellation of the usual free Thanksgiving meals around Marshall, North Carolina, Beacon of Hope tasked itself with getting the makings of a warm meal to those in need. They rose to the challenge and found a few partners along the way to make Thanksgiving special for anyone needing a hand up.

Beacon of Hope secured 116 turkeys from Asheville’s MANNA FoodBank and 250 pasture-raised chickens from local Fiddler’s Green Farm for those in need of a centerpiece for their holiday meal. Preserve Communities, through its giving arm the James Fisher Memorial Foundation, sponsored the locally pasture-raised chickens and invited French Broad Crossing residents to join in the giving spirit by donating essentials like blankets, jackets, sleeping bags, and travel-size personal care items. We are proud to continue to partner with Beacon of Hope and MANNA FoodBank to give back to our friends in need during this season of giving.

As another holiday rounds the corner, we encourage you to give what you can, whether it be food, warm coats, your time, or money. Our shared experience through this pandemic has strengthened our resolve to give back when and where we can. May you and your family have a happy and healthy holiday!
